Easy Local Video / Computer Projector Control/Push Button/Flush Mounted/Metal - Overview
EZ-250 - Easy Local Video / Computer Projector
Control
KEY FEATURES:
Most educators agree that the biggest threat to their confident
use of media in the classroom or lecture theater is that every
equipment setup they encounter is both extremely complicated and
completely different from the last one they used.
EZ-250 makes unassisted instructor control of Video / Computer
projectors a practical reality in colleges and universities, by
providing a simple, affordable, consistent control interface
regardless of the projector used.
Unlike the hand-held remote controls supplied with projectors,
EZ-250 provides a small number of big, backlit buttons with large
print. With EZ-250 end users get easy access to only the projector
functions they need!
EZ-250 is low voltage DC powered: there are no dead batteries to
replace. It's a wired (RS-232) control, so there are no hit-or-miss
Infrared line-of-sight issues. And, because it's installed, EZ-250
can't be lost.
And, unlike media room control systems available from other
control manufacturers, EZ-250 is inexpensive to acquire, install,
program, and update. That affordability makes EZ-250 a viable
control for every projector.
EZ-250 was designed for institutional use, by an institution.
After extensive research, media professionals at a major US
research university concluded that no off-the-shelf control system
satisfied their needs & so, in 1998, they developed their
own.
Earlier versions of EZ-250 are now installed in
classrooms and lecture theaters across North America. Faculty
report new confidence and increased use of projection systems.
Media staff report that with EZ-250 installed, control-related
support calls drop to zero.
And operating costs are reduced with EZ-250. Many
projectors include a Power Management feature to detect no signal.
However, some equipment outputs a signal as long as it is "ON". The
EZ-250 timer can minimize lamp wastage, by ensuring that an
unattended projector is shutdown.
NEW FEATURES:
EZ-250 adds flexibility, functionality, and extensibility to
earlier product design.
1. Totally programmable. Each of the 10 keys can have
any function the projector's RS-232 command set supports.
2. Programming truly is EZ!
3. Control 1 projector with 2 EZ-250 (ex: one at the lectern, and
one in the control room) and keep them in sync.
4. Control peripherals like screens or dimmers (2 contact closures,
1 RS -232 command).
5. Set shutdown timer to the period of inactivity you choose, in
hours between 0 and 9.
PACKAGE CONTENTS:
Package Contents: EZ-250 standard remote control keypad and
circuit board. AC adapter (power cube). EZlink hub connection

INSTALLATION:
Installer-Supplied Resources:
* Required Materials
- The RS-232 control cable that comes with the projector or that
was purchased (from the projector company).
- The RS-232 commands necessary for the projector being used (from
the projector company)
- 2 pieces of standard (straight) Cat 5 cables of required length
to run between the EZ250 face and EZlink Hub.
* Recommended Materials
- Our experience is that, although EZ-250 is a DC device, it is
susceptible-to AC power transients. We strongly recommend
incorporating Surge Suppression which conforms to UL Standard 1949
2'nd Edition for TVSS (Transient Voltage Surge Suppression) ...
commonly found on higher quality "power strips" ... in the
installation.
* Optional Materials (for box installation)
